Karen had her labs yesterday and the results were not good. She has nearly lost her white blood counts, just 0.55 and her platlets have decreased by more than half down to 208. She runs a fever from time to time. The doctor presecribed a second round of anitbiotics to help her through this. She also received an Xgeva shot to help with the integrity of her bones. And yes the side effects of pains in her bones and joints from the Xgeve has begun to set in. It is quite amazing that drugs that are to do so much good in the long run, sure do make you feel just plain lousy along the run.... Had a surprise visit from nephew Jeff, it was nice to see him and his short visit was a highlight for Karen this evening. Thank to the followers of this blog. I'm not gonna lie.....this sounds downright miserable. I'm so sorry that Karen is having so much pain! Please give her a hug from me. Hugs to you and grandma too! I'm so glad you all had a chance to see Jeff! Sending lots of prayers and all my love. Xoxoxo

ReplyDeleteI don't know Karen personally, but sure do feel for what she is going through and am praying for her. Just wish you could get a small "reprieve" from all the pain, Karen.

It was great to get to see Karen and Ava today and to meet Margaret. Everything sounds simply awful but it continues to amaze us the strong woman that Karen is. We've have always gotten inspiration from her. When Karen is feeling her 'old self', we'd love to come back and share time with her. Being in Rocklin makes it easy to stop by on notice when she is feeling good. We love this blog to be able to see how she is doing without hounding all of you. So, once a neighbor always good, long, lasting friends. Get well friend, looking forward to another one of our breakfast gatherings in the near future.
